Writing the Eilts Essay
Writing the Eilts EssayThe Eilts Essay is the essay that started it all for me. As a retired mental health nurse, I was eager to give my patients the attention and the information they needed, but what if this resource came from someone who did not have the credentials of a PhD?This was the first time that I had heard about something called 'freelance writing' that really did have the feel of writing an essay. This is not an exercise to just create some content, but it's also supposed to be creative and convey your personal story. So I decided to give this type of writing a try.The first thing I did was to get my high school degree in creative writing. This turned out to be very helpful. It gave me a way to be sure that I didn't follow what anyone else had been doing in their project. I learned that many people would have been giving the same information as I was, just different ways.I started to read more articles and lectures on the topic and made notes on the material I learned ab out how I could apply the lessons I learned in my own project. I began to take more action and thought of things that I had seen and thought of by myself. This went a long way in making the Eilts Essay my own. When I sat down to write my project, I felt that the result would be meaningful and would be something that would help others. And I knew that it would have to make some sort of impact on the reader because the goal is to help them.I found that the most useful resources were the ones that were on psychology and medication. I also learned that we are all a product of our environment. For me, my experience with medication was how it affected my own life. And I used that in my writing. In the story, 'The Elephant, the Nightingale, and Me,' Amanita Nyai is a creature that has helped me achieve certain goals in my life. I would love to give it all over again. Her advice and tips were what brought this story to life.Bryan Bates' work with American Indians was another resource that he lped this essay come to life. I got to learn about the spiritual side of healing and I could see how having the right tools in place would make a difference in someone's life.
